Hild Brothers Show Stock

We caught up with the breeder of the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 Aksarben Stock Show. We invite you to read our candid interview with Hild Brothers Show Stock below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

What’s the pedigree of your champion?
Chief X Felony X ‘Frisky’

What ram or female has been most influential to your herd?
‘Freestyle’ really kicked things into high gear for us at Hild Bros producing elite offspring including countless females retained in the flock as well as ‘Gable.’ He’s now a great grandsire on our farm with ‘Ace of Spades’ as our new buck lamb but still incredibly relevant in the industry.
As far as females go, you can walk through the barn and see several familiar names such as ‘Olive’ and 15197 (mother to Denver grand) as well as ‘Frannie’ (Freestyle’s mom) and ‘CiCi’- a great outcross we acquired from Hill/Hoeing.

What’s your dream as a producer?
My dream as a producer is to be remembered as an honest, hardworking individual who is seen as a trustworthy friend. Great sheep come and go and the market ebbs and flows but good friends are always here to stay. People likely will forget the sheep tag numbers you’ve sold them over the years or the high sellers on your sale but they won’t forget how you made them feel.

Do you reside on the same farm, or in the same town you grew up in?
No, I moved to Webster City in 2014 for a job with Elanco which just happened to be Charlie’s hometown. We got married in 2016 and I since have started my fulltime job at Hild Brothers (2019) and own and operate my photography business Four Back.

How many years have you been raising sheep?
Since August 27, 2016

What’s your dream vacation?
My dream vacation would be somewhere off the beaten path like a cozy cabin in the mountains or traveling the countryside of Europe.
I’ve always dreamed of touring the UK.
