Oliver Dies

We caught up with Mr. Oliver Dies, exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2020 Iowa State Fair – Special Edition FFA Show. Learn a little more about OIiver below!

Hometown: Ames, IA (Iowa State University)

With the uncertainty of the show season, how did you stay focused?
I knew the great people of our industry would find a way to put shows on for us. I just kept my head down and working so we would be ready when the time came to show.

What was something new you tried this year since you were able to be home more often than normal?
One new thing that we tried this year was feeding three times per day and we felt it had a really big impact on how our sheep looked and handled.

What is your favorite show product to use?
Sullivan Revive

When I grow up I want to be….
When I graduate I would like to work be a Sheep Sales Rep for SC Online, SSP or Willoughby while managing our herd, Stagecoach Club Lambs. I’ve also been considering doing church planting work for The Salt Company, my campus ministry.

Showing animals has helped me to develop……
Showing animals has helped me to develop my work ethic and perseverance. I have such respect for everyone in our industry because there are a lot of good days and bad but we all help each other keep going.
