We caught up with Ms. Mikena Brown, exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2020 Missouri State Fair. Learn a little more about Mikena below!
Hometown: Neosho, MO (Missouri State University)
With the uncertainty of the show season, how did you stay focused?
I stayed focus by remaining optimistic about the upcoming show season and working hard every day to get my lamb where he needed to be.
What was something new you tried this year since you were able to be home more often than normal?
Being home allowed us a lot more flexibility in our schedule. We were able to exercise the lambs in the mornings and periodically check on them throughout the day.
What is your favorite show product to use?
When I grow up I want to be….
an animal nutritionist.
Showing animals has helped me to develop……
drive, responsibility, dedication, humility, and a work ethic that I am truly grateful for.
What’s your favorite Barn Chore:
My favorite barn chore is exercising my sheep on the walker.
Who is the person you look to for advice right before you go in the ring for that last minute pep talk or pointer:
The person that I look to for advice is Kylar Lee with KWL Show Stock. He helps me to stay calm and always gives the best advice.
Favorite Celebration Restaurant after a good day at the show:
We love to celebrate at any Mexican restaurant with good enchiladas.
