We caught up with Ms. Layne Allen, exhibitor of the Bronze Medallion Market Lamb at the 2025 Oklahoma Youth Expo. Learn a little more about Layne below!
Leading up to the show, did you always know this lamb was special? What made him special?
It took A LOT of work to get him to calm down and not want to run every time I worked him. But once he finally calmed down, we found our rhythm and I enjoyed showing him. I also loved his fuzzy ears!
Getting to win OYE is a huge accomplishment, who would you like to thank for helping you get here?
I would like to thank my Mom, Dad, Sayde, Jayce, Cooper, Victoria, Colby, and Sister. They help make better everyday.
I also have a great family that supports me near and far at every show.
My show family is always there to support and encourage me along the way as well!
What is one show ring experience that you will never forget?
Getting selected as the Champion Purebred Ewe at OYE with my ewe, “Princess.”
If you could describe your experience in words – how would you describe it?
Exciting, Nervous, and Memorable!
If you had the opportunity to win one show, what would it be?
Denver – no question!
Who is your favorite judge? Why?
I have had the opportunity to show to many good judges, so picking a favorite is hard!
What do you enjoy most about being at the shows?
Getting to hangout with my friends and support them while they are in the show ring!
