Kylie Blevins

We caught up with Ms. Kylie Blevins, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2022 Virginia State Fair. Learn a little more about Kylie below!

School Attending & Grade: I am a sixth grader at E B Stanley Middle School.

What was special or interesting about your lamb?
He would really bite you hard if he got a chance……especially when you refilled his water bucket.  He absolutely loved to eat and could eat faster than any lamb I’ve ever had. The most interesting thing about him was his athleticism and his ability to  move. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

What was your favorite sheep in your barn this year?
My ewe lamb which also happens to be my showmanship lamb was probably my favorite. She is calm, cool and collected!  She has been my partner this year in winning eight showmanship titles this season. Her personality is truly one of a kind.

How would you describe the moment you were selected as champion?
The very moment that I was selected as Grand Champion was one of the most exciting things that I have ever experienced! I said a prayer over my lamb while the judge was making his final comments prior to his selection. When the judge shook my hand I felt so proud and accomplished that all the months of hard work had paid off.

Favorite thing to hear on showday?

When the judge says my lamb wreaks of quality and has all of the bells and whistles, I get excited that I’m going to have a good day!

Favorite person you spent time with at the show…
Chris Mackey! He keeps me calm, focused and confident! Also, I have really enjoyed having Kelli Garrett as my “show sister” this year. We have gotten really close and we are looking forward to 2023 together.

Do you have any superstitions?
I am not superstitious. I feel that God makes all things possible.

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be an orthodontist.
