We caught up with Mr, Brayden Bowers exhibitor of the Grand Champion Commercial Ewe at the 2023 American Royal and the Reserve Grand Champion Commercial Ewe at Aksarben. Learn a little more about Brayden below!
Grade: I attend Belmont Community Schools and I am in 9th grade.
Tell us a little bit about your champion.
Her name was Panda and she is a flushmate to Undercover Brother at Neff Livestock. She is a Saban x Chief’s sister. She was the Supreme Ewe at Wisconsin State Fair, Supreme Wether Dam at the American Royal, and the Reserve Supreme Ewe at Ak-Sar-Ben.
Throughout your show career what’s been your favorite lamb?
There are several that come to mind, but my favorite lamb is probably my blue wether from Neff that I showed in 2022 that was Reserve Overall at Aksarben.
Do your prefer showing Wethers or Ewes?
I prefer to show wethers because there is a bigger outcome if you win. Also my little brother will help me if they are wethers.
Are you superstitious? If so, what are your superstitions?
I am superstitious with my show shirts that I wear. I have certain shirts for the ewe show, wether show, and showmanship.
It’s showday – what is one thing you can’t leave the hotel/house without?
One thing I can’t leave without is my superstitious shirt for that show day.
What do you tell yourself right before you go into the ring?
I tell myself don’t mess this up so my mom doesn’t yell at me.
Are you an early riser or a night owl?
It depends on the day, but mainly a night owl.
Who has been your biggest influence?
My biggest influence in the sheep side has been Big Pookie aka Ty Allen. On the pig side it has been Jordan Tibbits.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
My favorite thing to do in the barn is to jam to music while working with my livestock.
