Mullikin Club Lambs

We caught up with the breeder of the Grand Champion Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 Ohio State Fair. We invite you to read our candid interview with Mullikin Club Lambs below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

What’s the pedigree of your champion?
Bombshell x Unicorn

What makes your operation run smoothly?
No question that would be my wife Whitney. She’s level headed, easygoing, and one of the hardest working women I know.

How many head do you run?
We keep around 75 Black Face ewes and a flock of 125 or so Commercial Polypay ewes that support the recip requirements for our ET program.

Do you have another job besides raising sheep? If so, what’s your occupation?
During the day I work in town at the Meldahl Hydro Electric generating facility in Foster, KY.  We also grow a couple hundred acres of Corn & Soybeans, and enough Alfalfa hay to support the Sheep and Cattle.

In your opinion, who has been the most influential ram across the industry?
In the modern era; in terms of genetic lines, I think it’s hard to argue against Drop the Mic and Unicorn.  I think Bombshell has quickly made a name for himself and should certainly be in that conversation moving forward.

What’s your favorite livestock show?
I would have to say NAILE.

Do you prefer online sales or live sales?
Living in Kentucky and somewhat off the travel path, we certainly prefer online sales.  It allows folks that can’t make it to the farm a chance to purchase a lamb.
