Brookwood Farms

We caught up with the breeder of the Reserve Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 American Royal. We invite you to read our candid interview with Brookwood Farms below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

What’s the pedigree of your champion?
Ride Time x Happy Days x Drop the Mic

What’s one milestone moment that put your program on the map?
In 2023 we were fortunate enough to breed champions at 4 state fairs and had reserve at 2 others. I feel like that was when people started recognizing our program.

Where do you hope to see your program 5–10 years from now?
I hope that we can maintain a balance of functional females with wether mates that can win big time shows.

What advice would you give a younger breeder starting out?
This life isn’t easy but it is incredibly fulfilling.

What’s your favorite show to attend and why?
NAILE. This was the first major I ever attended with my parents and it became an annual trip. I was fortunate enough to show cattle there and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

If you weren’t raising livestock, what would you be doing instead?
I can’t imagine doing anything else

What’s the soundtrack in your barn – quiet, radio, or playlists?
When Braden is home it’s a mix of red dirt and rap. I prefer 90s country which everyone else in the camp hates!

If you could leave tomorrow and take a dream vacation anywhere, where would it be?
In January of 2003, John and I went to Hawaii for the Farm Bureau Convention and then flew to Denver on the way home. That was a pretty cool vacation… and the last one I remember!
