We caught up with Ms. Skylar Dooley, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 Oklahoma Youth Expo. Learn a little more about Skylar below!
Leading up to the show, did you always know this lamb was special? What made him special?
I always knew he had some unique qualities, but he was my most challenging one to show. I had to spend extra time working him in the barn.
Getting to win OYE is a huge accomplishment, who would you like to thank for helping you get here?
1) my family for being there everyday and helping me. 2) Allen/Newcomb Show Lambs for breeding him and their guidance along the way. 3) My show family and the Lomega community for the encouraging words.
What is one show ring experience that you will never forget?
My dad “playing the violin” while he was coaching me in the Grand Drive.
If you could describe your experience in words – how would you describe it?
Memorable…it is something that I will never forget.
If you had the opportunity to win one show, what would it be?
Oklahoma Youth Expo because it is home.
Who is your favorite judge? Why?
This is only my second year showing so as of right now Scott Greiner.
What do you enjoy most about being at the shows?
Listening to the different judges explain what they like and don’t like about my animals. Of course playing and talking with my friends too.
