We caught up with Ms. Sayde Allen, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 NAILE and the 2026 National Western Stock Show. Learn a little more about Sayde below!
How did you get started in showing livestock?
I have grown up in the livestock industry from a very young age. I was only 2 months old at my first National Western Stock Show where I watched Cooper win Reserve Grand with a Rule Sheep Company wether!
What’s your favorite thing to do outside the show barn?
I like to hang out with my friends and family, and play softball and basketball.
Favorite show to attend?
My favorite show is OYE! The grand drive is one of the best! The limo ride and stepping out into the lights, smoke, and music is a feeling that will never go away.
If you weren’t showing, what sport/hobby would you be doing?
When I am not in the showring, I enjoy playing softball and basketball.
Favorite show barn chore? Least favorite?
My favorite barn chore is working one on one with my animals or tracking. My least favorite chore is wrapping legs even though I know it is important.
What’s one thing your parents/mentors always remind you of before you go in the ring?
“Don’t suck” is what Sister Kailen Urban likes to joke around with us about even though we know she is serious!
What’s one thing you learned from your champion that will help you with future projects?
I have learned to enjoy the moment because you never know what the future holds.
Who was the first person you hugged or high-fived after your big win?
My sister, Layne, was first to hug me!
