We caught up with Ms. Sawyer Morrical, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2024 Iowa State Fair 4-H. Learn a little more about Sawyer below!
What is one thing you try to do that sets you apart?
I always try to work as hard as I can, and only worry about controlling the factors that I can control. Working hard and being passionate for the things I love is something I have always done and plan to continue doing throughout my life.
What was the hardest thing you had to learn about showing sheep?
One of the hardest things I’ve had to learn about showing sheep and life in general, is that you can do everything perfect and it still might not work out the way you’d hoped. This is why when things do work out, it is incredibly special.
Who has helped you the most as a showman?
The people who have helped me most as a showman are my Dad (Joel Morrical), Nick Enfield, and Chelsea Nelson. These people taught me the value of hard work, the importance of commitment, and have instilled confidence and competitiveness in me since I started showing.
