We caught up with Ms. Peyton Courtright, exhibitor of the Reserve Champion Market Lamb at the 2026 Ohio State Fair Jr Show. Learn a little more about Peyton below!
How long have you been showing sheep?
I have been showing sheep since I was 5 years old!
What was your favorite thing about this lamb?
My favorite thing about my lamb was how chill he was. Sometimes he could get a little lazy, but he did exactly what he needed to do when it came to show time!
Go-to “hype” song on show day?
My go-to hype song has got to be “Monster” by Kanye West!
What goes through your head when you are in the show ring?
When I’m in the show ring, multiple thoughts are going through my head. The most important thing I think of, though, is if I’m showing my lamb to the best of my ability. I always want to make sure I’m getting my lamb to look its greatest!
When prepping for a show, what is something that is a “must-have” in the show box?
A must-have in my show box is definitely Sure Shine!
What is your favorite motivational quote?
My favorite motivational quote is, “Don’t tell them your dreams, show them.” And I’ve always lived by that. I’ve set many goals in the lamb industry, and being able to accomplish them is something I’m forever grateful for.
