We caught up with Ms, Mary-Hayden Blaylock exhibitor of the Grand Market Lamb at the 2023 Mississippi State Fair. Learn a little more about Mary-Hayden below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
Every day I have a list of tasks I need to complete for that day.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I have shown goats the last couple of years but decided to focus on just lambs this year.
What’s your favorite show? and why?
Heartbeat of the South in Perry, GA. Our whole family usually goes and we stay in campers on the fairgrounds.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
My Mom and I stop at Chick-fil-A and then talk about the show on the ride home.
What has showing livestock taught you?
I have learned so many things from showing livestock. A few of those would be the value of hard work, responsibility, and how to win and lose.
What’s your biggest dream?
My next goal is to win the Dixie National Livestock Show.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
DQ. He was named after Dakota Quickle since Triple D was the breeder. DQ is the first lamb at the gate to meet us every time we go to the barn and loves attention.
Who do you look up to?
I can’t name one person but a few of those I can’t leave out are my Uncle A (Aaron Henderson) and my Aunt Joni. Uncle A pushes me even when it’s hard. Also my Grumps, Gigi, and entire family continuously push me to do my best showing livestock.
