We caught up with Ms. Landrie Sutton, exhibitor of the Reserve Champion Commercial Ewe at the 2025 NAILE. Learn a little more about Landrie below!
How did you get started in showing livestock?
My parents. They both showed livestock, mostly cattle, when they were growing up (that’s actually how they met). Showing livestock goes back several generations on both sides of my family.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside the show barn?
Outside the show barn I love hanging out with friends and family. I also play basketball, softball, and run track.
Favorite show to attend?
My favorite show to attend is NAILE in Louisville, KY because there is something special about showing on those green shavings.
If you weren’t showing, what sport/hobby would you be doing?
If I wasn’t showing I would be playing travel basketball and/or softball.
Favorite show barn chore? Least favorite?
My favorite show barn chore is working legs and my least favorite is by far untangling and rolling leg wraps.
What’s one thing your parents/mentors always remind you of before you go in the ring?
One thing my mom always does with me is say a prayer before I go in the ring.
What’s one thing you learned from your champion that will help you with future projects?
One thing I learned from having Reserve Overall Commercial Ewe at the NAILE in Louisville, KY is that you always need to keep working hard even if you aren’t getting the results you want because your hard work will soon pay off! Also, sometimes those extra special sheep have a little bit of swagger and maybe a little attitude – It’s worth it!
Who was the first person you hugged or high-fived after your big win?
Gosh! It was kind of a blur right after the big win! I know I hugged my parents, siblings, grandparents, and Wyatt Acey.
