We caught up with Ms. Kirsten Walck exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 Arizona National. Learn a little more about Kirsten below!
Grade: Freshman at Murray State College
Tell us a little bit about your champion.
He has been my barn favorite since he showed up this year. He has a very good personality, when walking into the barn he is the only one up on the fence waiting for attention.
Throughout your show career what’s been your favorite lamb?
Through my career so far it’s hard to just pick one. I had a very cool speckle named Moo, as well as my senior year the barn was filled with favorites. The won that happened to win Arizona Nationals was by far my favorite sheep this year.
Do your prefer showing Wethers or Ewes?
I would show wethers over ewes any day of the week
Are you superstitious? If so, what are your superstitions?
I normally have to have the same routine on show days but I went into Arizona with a different mind and did everything differently than I normally do.
It’s showday – what is one thing you can’t leave the hotel/house without?
I would have to say the headband that I started showing in as it is in my show bag to this day.
What do you tell yourself right before you go into the ring?
I tell myself whatever happens is meant to be, then I say a quick little prayer.
Are you an early riser or a night owl?
Night owl
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
Favorite thing to do in the barn is to work them while listening to music.
