We caught up with Mr. Kasen Wooten, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 Fort Worth Stock Show. Learn a little more about Kasen below!
What school do you attend/grade are you in?
Madisonville ISD Jr High 6th grade
Leading up to the show, did you always know this lamb was special? What made him special?
Yes, even as a baby he was a stand out. He was super upfronted and cool looking. He just kinda floated when he walked in the ring.
Getting to win a TX Major is a huge accomplishment, who would you like to thank for helping you get here?
Oh man, that is a lot of people. God first! My mom and dad and grandpa for always taking me to the shows and helping me in the barn. Jason Dodd and Mike Nichols for placing that lamb in my hands, Matt Kennedy and Tyler Robertson with Kennedy-Robertson Livestock for always helping us keep our lambs looking their best, and Jalyn Dodd for helping me work on my showmanship.
What is one show ring experience that you will never forget?
The moment at Fort Worth when that the judge started talking about which lamb he liked best in the Medium Wool Breed Drive. Some of the things he was saying are things he said to describe my lamb when we won our class and the moment when the judge was walking towards me to shake my hand was awesome.
If you could describe your experience in words – how would you describe it?
Absolutely Amazing! From the show all the way to the auction.
Who has been your biggest influence?
My parents because they always help me and support me in everything I do.
If you had the opportunity to win one show, what would it be?
Fort Worth was at the top of the list. If I got to choose another one it would be San Antonio.
Who is your favorite judge? Why?
Brad Dale because he loved my blue lamb as much as I did.
What do you enjoy most about being at the shows?
Getting to show my lambs and playing with my friends in the downtime.
