We caught up with Ms. Josephine Caldwell, exhibitor of the Reserce Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 State Fair of Virginia. Learn a little more about Josephine below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
Once we get lambs in the barn, establishing a routine makes it easier to know what needs to be done everyday and helps keep us on track.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I occasionally show goats for my sister when she needs my help.
What’s your favorite show? and why?
NAILE. I like seeing the best of the best and how great the atmosphere is.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
If there is a carnival, I typically go and get a candy apple and a bag of cotton candy.
What has showing livestock taught you?
That dedication and hard work always pays off.
What’s your biggest dream?
I have a lot of big dreams but the biggest one is for my dad to allow me to show pigs.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
His name was Dipper. He always had a goofy personality and was fun to work with.
Who do you look up to?
I look up to Terri McCoy. She has a huge passion for the livestock industry, just as I do and is always there to help me get my lambs looking the best they possibly can.
