We caught up with Ms. Jordann Doty, exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2024 Missouri State Fair. Learn a little more about Jordann below!
What is one thing you try to do that sets you apart?
My family and I work together as a team. We don’t work for ourselves. My mom makes sure the lambs legs look the part. My dad makes sure I set up my sheep the best I can. My brother and sister give a helping hand whenever we need it.
What was the hardest thing you had to learn about showing sheep?
Being patient was definitely the hardest thing because the sheep would never get on the first try so I had to set them up many times. It’s also hard to stay focused when we got home late from playing ball and then we had to work and exercise sheep.
Who has helped you the most as a showman?
My dad has helped me the most. He spent many late nights out in the barn with me. Standing in the rain while I set my sheep up and he still made sure I had my sheep looking perfect.
