We caught up with Ms. Jenna Fielder, exhibitor of the Reserve Supreme Champion Commercial Ewe at the 2025 Oklahoma Youth Expo. Learn a little more about Jenna below!
Leading up to the show, did you always know this lamb was special? What made him special?
I always knew that she was a special girl, I guess I just never realized her full potential. She is the sweetest, most even tempered lamb and that’s what made her special and also made me fall in love with her personality!
Getting to win OYE is a huge accomplishment, who would you like to thank for helping you get here?
I would like to thank my entire family, from my parents spending countless hours at the barn with me working my livestock, helping to feed and hauling my animals to wherever we needed to be! I appreciate my siblings always being there to cheer me on and were always willing to help me however I needed. Also, I thank my ag teacher, Mr. Hardaway for convincing my parents to let me show sheep! I’ve spent most of my life in the pig barn and without him I wouldn’t have been able to experience the life changing events over in the sheep barn!
What is one show ring experience that you will never forget?
I will never forget the first time I showed a lamb! It was my junior year and probably early September, and we went to a show to get me used to the ring before we went to the Tulsa State Fair, well I walked into the ring and the lamb, “Cleto”, bolts out of my hands and starts running across the ring. After, we got her caught she still placed her 3rd in her class, I did however get a pretty stern talking to but it was a great learning experience for me where I learned to “Never under any circumstances let go of that lamb”.
If you could describe your experience in words – how would you describe it?
My experience was life altering, while I had faith in my lamb, Betty, I never expected to place that high with her at such an important show. After we got out of the ring after I won Reserve Supreme, I made sure to apologize to her for ever doubting her greatness. For my last OYE, I am so glad that I got to experience it with the sweetest lamb.
If you had the opportunity to win one show, what would it be?
I would like to win the wether show at OYE, I would get to experience the limo ride and also have the opportunity to get into the “Sale of Champions”.
Who is your favorite judge? Why?
So I’ve only shown under him once, and I was showing pigs at the time, but my favorite judge is Ryan Rash. Not only is he absolutely iconic, but the man also knows how to judge a set of livestock.
What do you enjoy most about being at the shows?
I enjoy the atmosphere, it’s just something about the air at a show that makes me feel right at home! Also, getting to see all of my stock show friends is great since we live all over the state.
