We caught up with Mr, Hayden Schroeder, exhibitor of the Reserve Champion Market lamb at the 2023 State Fair of Nebraska FFA. Learn a little more about Hayden below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
Some of the ways I stay focused on reaching my goals are thinking about how much I would regret it if I didn’t strive to be the best I can. While also always wanting to compete.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I do show other species those being cattle, hogs sheep
What’s your favorite show? and why?
I love to show sheep and pigs but cattle is probably my favorite it really depends on the day though the main reason I love cattle is working hair and hanging out in the cooler on hot days.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
I go out and hang out with friends but mainly get ice cream and sleep
What has showing livestock taught you?
Showing livestock has taught me that hard work is important but dealing with adversity is just as important.
What’s your biggest dream?
To win a National show with any species or in showmanship.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
My sheep name is MJ (Aka Marley Junior) and what made MJ so special is him being so willing to work with me and being the full brother to my sister lamb last year which was her last year of showing.
Who do you look up to?
I look up too two people my brother and my sister my brother for showing me how to be comfortable with uncomfortable and my sister teaching me how to show and take care of my animals while also showing me how to deal with adversity while also teaching tough love.
