We caught up with Ms. Harper Gouldie, exhibitor of the Reserve Supreme Champion Ewe at the 2025 Kansas State Fair. Learn a little more about Harper below!
What feed product do you feel helped them the most?
418 and Belly Down from Essential Feeds
What show day supply could you not go without?
Silk, Sure Shine and lots of drench guns
What did you do to prepare that made you set yourself apart?
Finding mentors to work with me one-on-one has really sharpened my showmanship skills and helped me present each sheep at its best, since each one is a little different. We’re fortunate that some talented showmen have made Kansas their home while in college, and working with them has improved my ability as a showman.
What was the funniest thing that happened while you were preparing for the State Fair?
My bestie, Laytynn Boggs, and I found a frog while we were sitting around getting lambs ready for the show. We threw it at Brynn Boggs, and she screamed, very high-pitched and loud, and practically jumped out of her chair. It was funny, and luckily Brynn ended up laughing too!
If you could invent a new fair food, what would it be?
Fried cheese curds with a pickle inside
What would it look like if you designed a ride for the fair?
The Ye Old Mill at the Kansas State Fair is one of my favorites, and I’ve ridden it like 100 times with all my friends. I know that ride so well, so a new version of the Ye Old Mill would be pretty awesome.
What was your celebratory dinner choice?
A Pronto Pup, an ear of roasted corn and a lemonade from Pop’s Place!
