We caught up with Ms. Hallie Sutherland, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 Kansas State Fair. Learn a little more about Hallie below!
What feed product do you feel helped them the most?
I would say Stretch helped my lamb the most.
What show day supply could you not go without?
I could not go without Leg Brushes on show day.
What did you do to prepare that helped set yourself apart?
I have to mentally prepare as well as prepare my sheep. So, I take a walk and shake off the jitters. I pray over my sheep before we go in. And, realize no matter how much I’ve prepared and we’ve practiced, I have to remain calm so my sheep will remain calm.
What was the funniest thing that happened while you were preparing for the State Fair?
I didn’t know my dad was standing by my wether and I was getting ready to wash him, when I turned around with the hose, I sprayed my dad and he was sopping wet! We had a good laugh!
If you could invent a new fair food, what would it be?
I would invent the Picklewich. The pickles would be the bun, then put pepperoni, turkey, american cheese, and ranch on it. It would be perfection.
What would it look like if you designed a ride for the fair?
I would design something that would be adults only. It would have a lot of twists and turns, it would go upside down. It would be a lot of fun.
What was your celebratory dinner choice?
It was chicken tenders with fries and ranch.
