We caught up with Ms. Esmeralda Franklin, exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Market Commercial Ewe at the 2023 Kansas Junior Livestock Expo. Learn a little more about Esmeralda below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
By making myself a routine and remembering why I started and what I want to accomplish.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I also show goats and pigs, but sheep are definitely my favorite!
What’s your favorite show? and why?
NAILE because of the facilities and because it has a very calm and welcoming atmosphere.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
I go out and eat with family and friends, and we have to get some ice cream!
What has showing livestock taught you?
Showing has taught me responsibility, that hard work pays off, and to always lend a helping hand because one day you may need help as well.
What’s your biggest dream?
To leave a impact on the younger generations that are showing livestock and to win the Kansas State Fair.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
Beth and she was special because she has always been a lover and always wanted attention since the day we went and looked at her in the barns.
Who do you look up to?
My parents and my sister because they have always been my biggest supporters and because they have pushed me to get where I am today!
