We caught up with Ms. Delainee Moore, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Commercial Ewe at the 2023 EYO. Learn a little more about Delainee below!
Age: I am 14 years old
Grade: I am a freshman at Canute
How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
I set a goal every year, and try not to lose focus. This year my goal is to make in the limo at OYE. I am going to keep working hard, and not give it my all to try to reach my goal.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I show pigs, sheep, cattle.
What’s your favorite show? and why?
My favorite show is oye, it is my favorite because of the grand drive. I remember watching it as a child, it gave me goosebumps and I still can’t believe I show there.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
I go eat with my family and my friends. We all celebrate, and have a fun time.
What has showing livestock taught you?
Showing livestock has taught hard work and determination. It has opened up several relationships I’m very thankful for. They will be my friends for life.
What’s your biggest dream?
My biggest dream would be for me and my sister to make it into the grand drive at OYE at the same time. Experiencing the limo, the smoke, the lights and showing together at that quality of a show would be a dream I will never forget.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
My sheep’s name is fancy. She is special to me because she is smart and she is my first ewe.
Who do you look up to?
I look up to Nicole Allen she always makes sure I have everything and helps me every time she can. I also look up to my parents, without them none of this would be possible. I am very lucky with everyone in my corner and I know I wouldn’t be able to do it without them all.
