We caught up with Mr. Colyer Williams, exhibitor of the Supreme Champion Ewe at the 2024 Kansas State Fair. Learn a little more about Colyer below!
What is one thing you try to do that sets you apart?
My dad tells me all the time to “chop wood, carry water” which means to commit to the process. We focus on the details of every day, and trust that through small improvements and being committed to the grind, it will pay dividends in the end.
What was the hardest thing you had to learn about showing sheep?
Patience! Staying level headed when working with sheep can be challenging.
Who has helped you the most as a showman?
Several people have helped contribute to me as a showman, and I am continually trying to learn to improve. My dad is very particular on feet placement and head positioning, so he helps me learn where they look their absolute best. Joe and Megan Hobbs have also provided advice and I really value their opinion. Finally, my momma helps me get nourished and dressed on show days to keep me looking fresh!
