We caught up with Ms. Brynleigh Shook, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2023 State Fair of Virginia. Learn a little more about Brynleigh below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
It requires making a plan and staying disciplined. Even on the days when you’re tired, you have to fight through it, because there’s nothing like seeing your hard work pay off.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
I am dedicated to sheep, but occasionally show goats and pigs as well.
What’s your favorite show? and why?
NAILE. It was my first major show and the first time I hit the green chips I walked away winning my class. It has wonderful memories, I am really looking forward to showing again this year.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
Celebrate at Texas Roadhouse and ride the carnival rides.
What has showing livestock taught you?
To be successful it requires a lot of hard work, time, and that goodbyes are really hard. It’s a sport that I really love. I love the competition, time with my family, making new friends, and traveling
What’s your biggest dream?
To win Grand Champion Market lamb at NAILE
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
“Prime” he knew he was good, he had the best personality, and I will never forget him.
Who do you look up to?
My mom.
