We caught up with Ms, Avery Malabanan exhibitor of the Reserve Grand Champion Ewe at the 2023 Arkansas Youth Expo. Learn a little more about Avery below!

How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
I just think about some of the things other kids have said to me to put me down or distract me and I want to show them I can be just as good as them.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
yes I also show goats
What’s your favorite show? and why?
AYE is my favorite show. It is my favorite because its in a safe place that my parents will let me out of their sight and not be worried. And I like the celebration of champions awards at the end .
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
Go out to eat and then get ready for the next show.
What has showing livestock taught you?
its taught me that work hard for what you want and nothing is just handed to you .
What’s your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to win a major show.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
her name is lizzo . I have shown her in alot of jackpots this summer and she has done great all year. She has an attitude alot like mine so we get along good together.
Who do you look up to?
I look up to Riley Pearce because she has helped me alot and gave me confidence to not worry about what people say and just do your own thing and everything will be ok.Riley Hoyle because she had a great career and she is still nice to me when I see her.
