We caught up with Ms, Ava Shroyer exhibitor of the Grand Champion Commercial Ewe at the 2023 North American. Learn a little more about Ava below!
Grade: Indian Lake High School / Senior
Tell us a little bit about your champion.
Jazzy is a Truce x Bullseye raised by my family. She is one of the friendliest sheep and has the best personality.
Throughout your show career what’s been your favorite lamb?
I’ve had many favorites, but my top two are Jazzy and Rose. I showed Rose in 2018. Both were successful in the ring, bringing home milestone banners.
Do your prefer showing Wethers or Ewes?
I have no preference. I just enjoy showing.
Are you superstitious? If so, what are your superstitions?
Yes! I always wear the same shirt in the ring. It’s my favorite and has brought me lots of luck!
It’s showday – what is one thing you can’t leave the hotel/house without?
My backpack. It is loaded with my show clothes, homework, hair supplies, and tons of other essentials. It typically weights a ton!
What do you tell yourself right before you go into the ring?
We are normally running late to class, so I don’t have a chance for a pep talk with my sheep! Humor aside, I am focused on what I need to do and making sure my sheep is set and ready to hit the ring strutting!
Are you an early riser or a night owl?
Definitely a night owl!
Who has been your biggest influence?
My parents. They have shown me what it means to work hard and taught me so much in and out of the show ring.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the barn?
Exercising and drenching.
