We caught up with Ms. Audree Callens, exhibitor of the Supreme Champion Breeding Ewe at the 2024 California Youth Expo. Learn a little more about Audree below!
What is one thing you try to do that sets you apart?
I think one thing that sets me apart is my confidence because no matter what class or drive it is I am always going to walk in confident knowing I did everything I could do to be my best that day.
What was the hardest thing you had to learn about showing sheep?
I think the hardest thing about showing is the same thing in any animal. They are all different. What works for one doesn’t work for the next. Sometimes you don’t even show the sheep the same each time. So learning how to adjust is a huge part.
Who has helped you the most as a showman?
I have been blessed to have a lot of amazing people in my corner to help mold me. A huge influence for me would be Maddy Mitchell because she has become the older sister I never had, she is always there for me to giving me hugs right out the ring to even answering my FaceTime calls day or night to help and watch me set up sheep. I also don’t know where I would be without Taylor Litteral and Garrett Bowe they are my rocks and i would not want to do this sport without them because they give me the confidence, they believe in me when i don’t and find me the best animals to help reach my goals.
