Age: 16
Grade: 11th
How do you stay focused on reaching your goal?
At the beginning of each show season I develop my goals and write them down. I continue to review these goals throughout the season. This helps to keep me motivated and make these goals a reality. I am also fortunate to have a big group of supporters including my twin sister. We always push each other to do our best in and out of the show ring.
Do you show any other species besides sheep? If so, what other species?
No, however my twin sister shows goats and I enjoy helping her.
What’s your favorite show? and why?
The Nebraska state fair is my favorite show. I am able to spend time with my show family and compete against friends from across the state. It’s a really cool environment where everyone supports each other and fun memories are made.
What do you do to celebrate after a big win?
To celebrate a win, I always give thanks to my show team. My team puts in a lot hard work and dedication to help me obtain my goals. We generally go out for a nice dinner to celebrate and get back to work for the next show.
What has showing livestock taught you?
Livestock showing has taught me dedication and helped me develop a strong work ethic.
This year we had a few obstacles and with dedication and hard work we overcame them. This industry has also provided me the opportunity to meet lifelong friends. I would be nowhere close to where I am today without the showing experience.
What’s your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to win a national show.
What’s your lambs name? and what made him/her so special?
My lamb’s name was Buzz after “Burch Buzz.” He was white featured and that made him special and unique. He was a very sweet lamb and from the moment we saw him we knew he was a winner.
Who do you look up to?
I am definitely most inspired by my show team including Brodie Mackey and Tessa Shaw. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish half of what I have without their help. They are very hardworking and knowledgable with every aspect that has to do with livestock. I strive to be like them and help others. Hopefully I can make a big impact on someone’s life like they have on mine.
