We caught up with Ms. Addison Roberson, exhibitor of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2024 San Angelo Stock Show. Learn a little more about Addison below!
Tell us a little about your champion:
My champion was home raised (R- Livestock) and will always hold a special place in mine, as well as my families hearts. Considering it’s my first major won, and with one my dad raised, “30” will never be forgotten.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned while showing animals?
The most interesting and hardest thing i’ve learned is that you have to put in 100% effort to get the results you want. You cannot expect to do well while only giving 50%.
Do you have any special tricks for getting stubborn animals to cooperate?
When it comes to getting stubborn animals to cooperate, i’ve learned the only thing that works is time. Consistency is key when it comes to showing livestock.
What’s your favorite memory involving your animals?
My favorite memory is winning san angelo. It was very rewarding for me and everyone involved that helped me get to this point. I am very proud of my dad for working hard enough to get me here.
What’s the most challenging aspect of showing livestock, and how do you overcome it?
The most challenging part of showing is how you handle yourself despite how you do with your lamb. I’ve had to learn to win humbly as well as lose humbly.
Who inspired you to become the showman you are today?
My dad and my show team have pushed me the hardest to get to where I am today. My dad has held me accountable and has experienced all of the the ups and downs of showing with me. My mom has also pushed and encouraged me to keep going, even when I don’t have the best day in the ring.
