Your online source for the show lamb industry.

We caught up with Ms. Abby Dies, exhibitor of the Reserve Champion Wether Dam  at the 2025 American Royal. Learn a little more about Abby below!

How did you get started in showing livestock?
My family was introduced to the club lamb industry when we were given 10 cull ewes from my dad’s mentor. They were certainly genetically challenged and we worked hard to improve our flock to get to where we are today!

What’s your favorite thing to do outside the show barn?
Outside of the show barn, I love to spend time in outside and be my friends.

Favorite show to attend?
The American Royal or the Iowa State Fair

If you weren’t showing, what sport/hobby would you be doing?
If I had never taken up showing, I would spend my free time traveling and going to concerts.

Favorite show barn chore? Least favorite?
My favorite show barn chore would be feeding and least favorite would cleaning out the showbox.

What’s one thing your parents/mentors always remind you of before you go in the ring?
Oliver always reminds me to have confidence in myself and to believe in the work we’ve put into our lambs.

What’s one thing you learned from your champion that will help you with future projects?
Ziti really helped me learn how to be consistent and detail oriented. She is very responsive to even the slightest adjustment, so I have to be very precise and consistent with my actions.

Who was the first person you hugged or high-fived after your big win?
My brother, Oliver!
