Kass Newell

We are kicking off our Oklahoma Youth Expo show coverage with a quick interview from Executive Vice President, Ms. Kass Newell. Be sure to check back for in depth coverage of the 2024 OYE!

What goes into an event like OYE?
OYE is a packed 10 day event that takes our staff an entire year to prepare for. We have over 7,500 students from all 77 Oklahoma counties exhibiting over 13,000 head of livestock at OYE each year. Our staff works diligently to prepare for OYE to make it the best event our exhibitors can attend.

Can you tell us a little about CYAE and EYO?
CYAE is a similar format of OYE but based in California and for California exhibitors. We work with Curtis Bayne and Jake Parnell to make it a spectacular event for California exhibitors.

EYO is a portion of the Oklahoma State Fair. We are excited to team up with them again this year to host EYO September 11-15, 2024. We help with the junior and open cattle shows and the junior sheep, goat, and hog shows.

What does a average day during OYE look like?
I don’t think there is truly an average day during OYE. Every day is different and proposes new challenges and new goals.

What are numbers looking like for this years show?
Our nomination numbers are the most we have ever had at OYE, with over 33,000 animals nominated. We are projecting it to be the biggest show yet. We are looking forward to a great show!
