We caught up with Ms. Steva Robinson to learn more about her hometown before she steps “Inside the Ring” to sort the Wether Dams & Showmanship at the 2025 Arkansas State Fair. Get to know Steva below!
Hometown?
Belmont, WI
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Belmont, WI – a small town in Southwest WI. We’re about 30 minutes from Dubuque, IA and an hour from Madison, WI.
How many kids were in your graduating class?
32
If we go back to your senior year of high school, what song was “your song”?
Guessing it was probably Outkast or 50 cent.
Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? If so, what?
I played sports, as well as being in 4-H and FFA. As I got older, I knew my passion was in showing and raising livestock, so I prioritized that over many other activities.
If someone were visiting your hometown for the first time, what’s the one thing they must do?
Wisconsin is known for these small little “supper clubs” which are basically non-chain steakhouses – if you find a good one, you must definitely stop!
Are there any people in your hometown who shaped who you are today?
I was fortunate to have my dad that really supported me in my love for the livestock industry. We’d put a ton of miles on across the country going to shows and looking at stock.
Bobby May has always been a good family friend of my dad’s, and we showed cattle with their crew for a few years. Brian Reilly of Impact Hamps was just on the other side of the county, and I remember job shadowing with him in High School. Those two guys helped me see “the bigger picture” of what the entire livestock industry had to offer.
Not necessarily in my hometown, but during high school, we became good friends with Harold McIlrath, and honestly that connection opened every single door for me to get to where I am today. I was able to meet so many people in the industry thru working for him and learned so much in my time there.
