We caught up with Mr. JJ Maddox to learn more about his hometown before he steps “Inside the Ring” to sort the Ewe Show at the 2025 Ohio State Fair. Get to know JJ below!
Where did you grow up?
Custer City, Oklahoma
Small farming community in Western Oklahoma.

14 – Class of 1993
If we go back to your senior year of high school, what song was “your song”?
Chattahoochee
Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? If so, what?
I was involved in FFA, Show Choir, Basketball and Baseball.
If you could describe your hometown in one word, what would it be?
Small
Were there any local traditions or festivals you loved?
4th of July celebration at the park provided by the Fire Department.
If someone were visiting your hometown for the first time, what’s the one thing they must do?
Go visit the community building to look at the history of the town and Custer High school.
Are there any people in your hometown who shaped who you are today?
My parents gave me the opportunities that allowed me to be successful.
