Jade Jenkins

We caught up with showmanship judge Jade Jenkins before she steps “Inside the Ring” at the Arizona National. We invite you to read our candid interview with Jade below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Inside the Ring – Showmanship Edition.”

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WANT THE EXHIBITORS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
Everytime I step in the ring it’s game time and I am 110% focused on doing the best job I can every single time that I get the opportunity to sort no matter what size show it is.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON SWITCHING SIDES?
In showmanship it separates the winners from the contenders. It has to be done but must be done in a calm, cool and collective manner.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MAKING NOISE TO MAKE THE ANIMALS MOVE?

If you have a stubborn sheep or goat that just is getting lazy and you need make a little noise a couple of times that’s ok. Nevertheless, if it’s every-time and a distraction I don’t care for it..

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE TOUGHEST DIVISION TO JUDGE?
Usually in showmanship the toughest heat is probably in the Intermediates. No doubt though every division at the Arizona National is going to be tough! I’m super pumped about it! The best of the best!!

FAVORITE SEASON?
I absolutely love FALL, especially since my father and I have opened up one of the leading mum and pumpkin places in our area. We plant thousands of mums and over 10,000 pumpkin seeds, each year. I absolutely love the joy our customers have when they find the perfect pumpkin or mum. Also fall weather is just more for me.

IF YOU CAN HAVE ANY JOB IN THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE AND WHY?
Island Caretaker. You get paid to take care of an island, swim eat ect. Sounds pretty cool to me.

FAVORITE TYPE OF FOOD?
I love almost all Mexican food.

FAVORITE DRINK?
Mountain Dew
