Hometown?
Ropesville, TX

Where did you grow up?
Ropesville, TX is a small town in the “panhandle”, just south of Lubbock. I normally just say I grew up in Lubbock for the sake of keeping conversation moving.

How many kids were in your graduating class?
18

If we go back to your senior year of high school, what song was “your song”?
I didn’t really have one particular song. But whatever I was listening to was on a burned CD that was scratched and written on with a sharpie.

Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? If so, what?
Multiple events in 4-H and FFA.

If you could describe your hometown in one word, what would it be?
Speedtrap. Making it one word for the sake of this interview.

Were there any local traditions or festivals you loved?
Friday night football games in the fall are the peak of small towns like Ropesville.

If someone were visiting your hometown for the first time, what’s the one thing they must do?
Slow down and avoid the speeding ticket. Or get a fountain drink at the local convenient store.

Are there any people in your hometown who shaped who you are today?
Mrs. Callaham was my favorite teacher in high school and she encouraged me to do competitive speaking events, and was my coach for that. That may be the thing from high school I have used the most through judging and in my career.
