We caught up with judge Aaron Jennings before he steps “Inside the Ring” to sort the Market Lamb Show at the Indiana State Fair. Learn more about Aaron below…
What are you looking forward to the most while judging the show?
To me the interaction with youth passionate about the sheep industry and highly competitive is always the highlight. However, with a show the caliber of IN the quality of livestock will be icing on the cake.
What state fair did you show at growing up? What was your favorite part?
In Texas the SFT wasn’t a hugely impactful show at the time I was exhibiting. Now is has grown tremendously and has become a bragging rights show. Because of this we focused out time on Ft. Worth, San Antonio, San Angelo, Houston, and Austin.
What show is on your bucket list to judge?
I honestly don’t have tremendous aspirations to judge any specific show. I always consider the invite to work with youth and evaluate livestock at any level of competition a privilege.
What is one lesson you took away from showing yourself?
To narrow it down to a single lesson is truly challenging. That being said I think the most significant lesson anyone can learn in life is that you will loose. Maybe you should have or maybe you think you shouldn’t have but don’t blame others. Just take care of your own business. Strive to be the best you can be with your time and resources. And make sure you realize that a win isn’t always the champion banner. It can be accomplishing any goal you set out to achieve that is realistic.
