Wolf Bros Livestock

We caught up with the breeder of the Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2025 Kansas State Fair. We invite you to read our candid interview with Wolf Bros Livestock below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

What’s the pedigree of your champion?
All Natty X Amstutz “Abby” Wizard/DTM

What are your long-term goals as a breeder?
Be successful enough raising sheep I can bring Jaime home full time. Gonna need her to manage the show barn in about 4 years.

Was there a moment when you almost gave up? What made you push through?
A good 3 to 4 times a year at minimum. It’s an addiction.

What’s something you’ve changed your mind about over the years?
The traders/show families are more important to winning a big show than the breeders. You can raise the best sheep in the country but if they don’t find the right homes, it doesn’t matter.

If you could rebuild your herd/flock from scratch, what would you do differently?
Buy the ugly sisters out of solid number deep quality flush’s. Cheaper to buy and normally out do their show quality sister on the wether making ability.

What trait do you wish you had focused on sooner in your program?
Chest floors and fuzz

Is there a breeding decision you’re especially proud of — or one you regret?
Made a whole lot that didn’t work and few that have. Ride the waves and hope you get lucky.

What’s your favorite state fair — and why?
Ohio, I proposed to Jaime in the ring.

Is there anything you wish you had known when you started breeding?
How expensive that this deal was going to get in a pretty short time period.

What’s next — any big goals or projects in the works?
We’re currently finishing a manure storage facility and would like to put up another livestock barn or two with the next couple years. Just takes time and money, and a whole lot of both.
