We caught up with the breeder of the Reserve Champion Market Lamb at the 2026 Oklahoma Youth Expo. We invite you to read our candid interview with Wilson Show Stock below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”
What’s the pedigree of your champion?
He was Navajo x N440 Unicorn x El Chapo
What are your long-term goals as a breeder?
I feel like we reached that goal at OYE. Moving forward for a long term goal I would say to raise quality stock that are competitive at all levels across the country.
Was there a moment when you almost gave up? What made you push through?
Everyday! I think our competitiveness keeps us pushing through. This game is tough and we keep trying to be the best players we can at it.
What trait do you wish you had focused on sooner in your program?
Whiter featured and taller fronted.
Is there a breeding decision you’re especially proud of — or one you regret?
I regret not flushing N440 again this year lol.
What’s your favorite show — and why?
OYE! The staff at OYE goes all in for the kids and to me that’s what this is all about.
Is there anything you wish you had known when you started breeding?
How hard it is to raise a great one.
What’s next — any big goals or projects in the works?
Just to keep trying to raise high quality livestock.
