What’s the pedigree of your champion?
Chief x Kermit x Kermit (Kermit is a Frog x Dirty Dragon)
How many years have you been raising sheep?
My dad & I started raising sheep when I was in 1st grade. When I went to college, we sold all of our ewes and I started back in when I graduated college.
What excites you the most about raising show stock?
I love the process – the late nights in the lambing barn, putting the miles on to see lambs at other places, working with people that pour their time into your lambs, and the excitement of making matings are my favorite parts.
What is your favorite animal on your farm?
Currently, probably the J571 ewe that Landen Leibfried showed last year – She’s grown into a tremendous looking female and I’m excited to see what she can generate!
What is one lesson that you have learned while raising sheep that has changed your perspective over time?
Success isn’t always linear.
Where would you like to see your operation go in the next 5 – 10 years?
We started aggressively implementing IVF this year, looking to see how that goes to continue expanding on more of that if it goes well!
