Silvers Livestock

We caught up with the breeder of the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb at the 2024 Arkansas Youth Expo. We invite you to read our candid interview with Silvers Livestock below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

What is one thing you still want to accomplish as a breeder?
Win a Texas Major, Win an Oklahoma major and a National show with one I raised.

Favorite show ring trend?
I guess I would have to say how we are trending back to leaner more athletic sheep for the most part.

Favorite industry sire of all time?
Oh man, that’s a tough one. There’s so many good ones. Duffey raising Young Jock, Trigger and Beast from Johnson. Solution/Doc at Harrells. Lots of good ones that have shaped the Industry.
Don’t forget about COMPASS at Allen/Newcomb! Next big thing IMO.

Most influential female in your flock? Why?
Dolly. She is a No Lie ewe we showed some and won her class at the San Antonio ewe show a few years back. She doesn’t have all the accolades and trinkets like some but she is a true example of a stout, broody, functional female that can carry her weight and turn a profit. She’s our lead donor and what we want to capture at Silvers Livestock.

Favorite show animal you’ve ever seen?
Another tough one. As a show dad I think I’m supposed to pick one of my kids right? lol. Sheps Grand at Houston or 3rd out Hamp at Louisville this year! Thought those were special sheep. But thinking back one of my favorites was Brooke Kuesels Grand at Iowa in 2018.
