Middlesworth Club Lambs

We caught up with the breeder of the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Commercial Ewes at the 2023 Oklahoma Youth Expo. We invite you to read our candid interview with Middlesworth Club Lambs below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”

Who had the biggest influence on you to start your own herd?
Perry & Lori started the Middlesworth herd when they got out of high school. Harold & Jolene Mcillrath were a couple they looked up to.

First buck you can remember you bred to:
“Seacrest” the Champion Buck at the Iowa State Fair in 1982

Favorite ewe? Why?
Nicole & Ty – P126 “Sassy” – Pony x Dog that raised many bucks & winners. (Tys favorite because Nicole is the boss)

Perry & Lori  – 9169 & 9170  – The original Stud Duck x Razor Ewes

Flint & Jalene – Blind Betty & Bonnie Big Butts – Show ewes that turned into Donors

Growing up what did you think your occupation would be?
Perry & Lori – Always Farmers

Are you still on the farm or buildings that you started raising sheep in? If not, when and why did you decide to move?
Perry & Lori’s house & big white barn is where we started.  We have added 5 sheds at their house and 2 sheds at Jalene & Flint’s house 1.5 miles away.  Ty & Nicole are 10 hours away at the Allen/Newcomb plantation.

If you could add one thing to your operation, what would it be and why?
A hired hand! We have had some good help this spring but are looking for more full time!
