We caught up with the breeder of the Supreme Champion Wether Dam at the 2026 Indiana State Fair. We invite you to read our candid interview with Stone Show Stock below and please continue to check back often for our next edition of “Breeder Spotlight.”
What’s the pedigree of your champion?
Tres Amigos x Whitney. Whitney is the twin sister to our 2022 Houston Livestock Show Grand Champion Lamb, making this female another successful piece of a proven family in our program.
How many years have you been raising sheep?
We started our breeding program in 2022 as our boys were getting toward the end of their showing years.
What excites you the most about raising show stock?
The breeding side is what excites us most. We enjoy studying genetics, putting matings together and trying to create those unique outliers that separate themselves.
What is your favorite animal on your farm?
Double T would probably be my favorite ewe. She was behind our Grand Champion lamb in Arizona and has become a cornerstone of our program.
What is one lesson that you have learned while raising sheep that has changed your perspective over time?
We’ve learned not to get caught up in chasing what everyone else is doing. Trust your eye, learn from every mating and stay focused on making the kind of sheep you believe in and enjoy looking at.
Where would you like to see your operation go in the next 5 – 10 years?
We want to continue building on the foundation we’ve started while keeping the program focused on quality rather than numbers. Hopefully we can continue raising special ones and working with great families who can take them on and have success.
