My “nonnegotiable” in judging good livestock starts at the ground with the integrity of the skeleton.
What is your favorite part about working with the next generation of young people?
I have spent my entire professional career working in education to ensure young people have the opportunity to find success no matter their backgrounds. A simple smile on a young person’s face after they have achieved a milestone, is gratifying.
What is your best piece of advice for someone looking to pursue a judging career?
My best piece of advice for someone looking to pursue a judging career in today’s industry, is staying rooted in one’s integrity grounded by humility. I feel in today’s world of social media and instant need for gratification, individuals lose sight of this industry is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
Biggest showmanship pet peeve?
Showman who feels the need to be disrespectful in ring by not staying in line especially on the profile.
Do you prefer to judge on the profile or on the walk?
With my emphasis being put on the integrity of the skeleton at the ground, I prefer to judge them on the walk.

Favorite show you have judged?
I have had the opportunity to judge a lot of great shows over my career. It is hard for me to just pick one, because I feel blessed to just be given the opportunities.

What impression do you hope to leave on the crowd and exhibitors when you exit the ring after judging?
The impression I hope to leave with the crowd and exhibitors after judging is pretty simple, they could follow how I described the livestock and where I put my priorities on final placings.
